The organization is the largest employer in the county, with over 5,000 employees across the health system. The communities St. Joseph’s Health serves are among the lowest income percentiles in New Jersey, so to combat health disparities, the organization has contributed over $80 million in community benefit funding. Among their ongoing health equity initiatives is the construction of affordable housing for their underserved populations with access to sustainable healthcare resources, a project that came out of analyzing their community data and needs to best serve their patient population beyond hospital walls.
