June 12, 2023

The PRC National Health Survey — an examination of Americans’ health status, behavior, and needs — included questions about the sexual orientation and gender identity of respondents. This allowed for insight to the disparities experienced by LGBTQ+ adults.

This is called health equity, and it is achieved by addressing systemwide problems, unfair practices, and unjust conditions that have a negative impact on the health of specific groups. In order to achieve health equity, we work to eliminate health disparities … differences in health outcomes that are closely linked with social, economic, and/or environmental factors (CDC.gov/health-equity).
