PRC’s National Health Survey Brief: Older Adults and the Social Determinants of Health

April 13, 2022

According to Healthy People 2030, social determinants of health (SDOH) are the conditions in the environments where people are born, live, learn, work, play, worship, and age that affect a wide range of health, functioning, and quality-of-life outcomes and risks (https://health.gov/healthypeople/objectives-and-data/social-determinants-health). Social determinants of health range from income to housing, education to racial disparity, food security to health coverage, and more. For older adults in particular, these factors can significantly impact the experience of aging, especially around the goals of independent living and aging in place.
