CMS recently announced that the Home Health Value Based Purchasing Model (HHVBP) may be expanded nationwide as soon as CY2022. The exact timeline will be published through upcoming rulemaking.
Implemented in 2016, the existing model adjusts Medicare payments to home health agencies based on quality performance measures relative to peers within the same state. This model is currently used in all Medicare-certified HHAs that serve Arizona, Florida, Iowa, Maryland, Massachusetts, Nebraska, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Washington.
